Donald Snow earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of Wooster in 1977 as well as an MA in English (TESOL) from Michigan State in 1983 and his Ph. D. in East Asian Language in Culture from Indiana University Indianapolis in 1991.
He has taught courses in language, culture, and linguistics at institutions through China, such as Nanjing University, Zhongshan University, and Chinese University of Hong Kong, and prior to DKU served as Executive Director of Shantou University’s English Language Centre.
In 2016 he started at DKU as a Professor of Language and Writing; in 2022 he became the Senior Director of the Language and Culture Center.
His primary research interests focus on independent language learning, intercultural communication, language teaching, diglossia and the historical development of written Chinese vernaculars.
